Lutheran Church of the Foothills

The Executive Committee (ExCom) meeting was called to order by Larry Fellows, President, at 5:30 p.m.

Members in attendance:  Larry Fellows, President; Gerry Wolfe, Vice President/ Webmaster/Hospitality; Sharon Overstreet, Executive at Large;  Vicki Wolfe, Publicity Chairperson, Cindy Bethard, Membership Chairman, and Ginny Peterson, Executive-At-Large.

Absent:   Priscilla Brodkin, Treasurer; and Fred Heath, Education Chairperson.

The meeting was called to order by president Larry Fellows.

Cindy Bethard offered to put together a tentative schedule for 2018 field trips.  It was agreed that she would ask the meeting attendees to lead trips and add them to the schedule.

The minutes from the last meeting and the treasurer’s report were approved as submitted.

The webmaster, Gerry Wolfe, got the password for BlueHost, the host of SEABA’s website, from the previous webmaster, Yvonne Bourgeois.  This allows him to pay the annual fees for the website.  But he still needs the administrator username and password in order to update the structure of the website.  He will follow up.

The publicity chair, Vicki Wolfe, placed an ad in the Desert Leaf for this month’s meeting and two previous meetings, at a cost of $36 each.  The board will evaluate the value of the three ads she placed after the February meeting.

The board approved Larry Fellows as the backup emailer for SEABA events when Cindy Bethard is unavailable.

Member-at-large Sharon Overstreet is continuing to process the paperwork to make SEABA an official partner to the Pima County Certified Naturalists, to allow these people to volunteer for SEABA counts and log volunteer hours for their certification.

President Larry Fellows asked the ExCom to give more thought to listing the names of SEABA members on the website who are willing to give butterfly- related talks to interested groups. At the February ExCom meeting Fred Heath and Fellows agreed to have their names listed.

Larry Fellows mentioned that he saw numerous butterflies at Brandi Fenton Park last year and recently read that there is a new butterfly garden at Christina-Taylor Green Park. He asked whether there is a list of other parks/gardens in the Tucson area.
