SEABA board meeting minutes - April 24, 2018
Gerry Wolfe presided over the meeting, which started at about 5:15 pm.
There was a discussion about the offices being vacated in May and how we could fill them. Offices to be filled are: president, vice president, secretary, program chairman, field trip coordinator, publicity chairman and one ExCom member.
Joanne Finch proposed that the board members split up the list of members and individually call the people on their list.
Cindy Bethard agreed to print out the membership list with phone numbers, divide it into 8 equal parts, send it out to the board members and indicate which part is each member’s call list. Board members agreed to complete their calls by May 10 and report back to the election committee, which is composed of Cindy Bethard and Gerry Wolfe.
[Secretary’s note: as of 14 May 2018, responses:
Cindy B:
Cindy – candidate for secretary
Sharon Atwell – candidate for hospitality chair
Peggy Allen – candidate for hospitality chair
Gerry and Vicki W:
no candidates found
Vicki W offered to help train the new publicity chairman
Larry F:
April Day – candidate for Excom
Joanne F:
Joanne F – candidate for hospitality chair
Fred Heath:
Jackie Hunsaker – candidate for vice president
Cindy suggested a “Plan B” in which two persons could share an office. Long term members have commented that the president and/or vice president traditionally managed the programs.
Gerry Wolfe stated that SEABA may have to drop some of our monthly programs if candidates for these officers cannot be found.
Joanne Finch requested that we provide name tags for attendees at meetings. The board approved this idea. Joanne says she will bring name tags for the May meeting.
Joanne Finch also suggested that field trips could offer a coffee stop at the end to allow field trip attendees to get to know each other better. This could be optional, and would depend on the field trip leader being amenable.
The meeting was called to a close at about 6:45 pm.
